MGM Casino
Among other great efforts to use renewable energy, MGM Resorts have installed the biggest solar arrangement on their Mandalay Bay resort’s rooftop. The installation covers twenty acres and supplies an impressive 20% of the casino’s energy.
In another effort to save money and the environment MGM has also replaced 1.3 million old light bulbs with LED versions. This change is saving them 10 million dollars per year.
Rincon Casino
This San Diego casino uses a nearby solar panel farm’s power for their air conditioning. This project is costing the casino $8 million, and this renewable source of energy is currently supplying 90% of the casino’s air conditioning system’s power.
The Rincon resort makes use of other renewable energy sources too. In addition to using energy-efficient lighting, they also have a solar heated swimming pool.
Peppermill Resort Spa Casino
Peppermill Resort is situated in Reno and consists of two 19-story towers, a massive casino. They used to make use of gas boilers to keep their visitors toasty warm during winter time. The only problem was this was not very safe.
They have since implemented geothermal aquifiers which extracts boiling hot water from beneath the resort. This is saving them $2 million per year. Luckily the resort is situated on top of a natural hot water source.
